Description

This listing is for the BCM4356XKUBG / CYW4356XKUBG – the official Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo chip used by Nintendo across all Switch models, including:

  • Switch V1 / HAC-001 (Erista)
  • Switch V2 / HAC-001(-01) (Mariko)
  • Switch Lite / HDH-001
  • Switch OLED / HEG-001

Both model numbers refer to the exact same chip. The name difference comes from Broadcom’s Wi-Fi division being transferred to Cypress (now Infineon). Chips are shipped randomly based on stock availability – performance and compatibility are identical.

⚠️ Important: Why BCM4354 Series Is Not Recommended as a Replacement

BCM4354 series chips (BCM4354KKUBG / BCM4354XKUBG / CYW4354XKUBG) are pin-compatible with the Switch motherboard and may physically function after installation. However, they are not the standard configuration used for the system.
Using BCM4354 as a replacement may lead to the following issues:

Issue Description
Wi-Fi Performance Degradation BCM4354 supports only 1×1 MIMO, limiting Wi-Fi speed to 433 Mbps (vs. 867 Mbps on official BCM4356).
Bluetooth Instability in Dock Mode Bluetooth may become unstable or disconnect when the console is docked.
Unpredictable Compatibility System design is optimized for BCM4356; substitution may affect signal integrity, especially under higher load conditions (dock mode).
Potential for Intermittent Failures Wireless functions may work in handheld mode but become unstable under stress or after system updates.

We strongly recommend using only the official BCM4356 / CYW4356 series for reliable, long-term performance.

Installation Notes:

  • Requires BGA rework experience. This chip is not a drop-in replacement and requires professional hot-air soldering or rework station.
  • Check peripheral components. Before installation, inspect the capacitors and resistors around the Wi-Fi module on your motherboard – especially if 4354 Series was previously installed. Surrounding components may have been modified for compatibility. Missing or damaged components can cause Bluetooth or Wi-Fi failure, especially in docked mode.
  • Test thoroughly after installation. We recommend testing both Wi-Fi (5GHz and 2.4GHz) and Bluetooth (pairing with controllers/headphones) in both handheld and docked modes to ensure full functionality.
