General Description
The RTD2175P is a custom HDMI encoder / retimer chip manufactured by Realtek exclusively for Sony PlayStation. It is used as the primary HDMI output IC on PS5 and PS5 Slim mainboards (e.g., EDM-044 model).

Technical Background
The “P” suffix indicates PlayStation-specific firmware and logic. Standard RTD2175 or RTD2175N cannot substitute this chip. Installing a non-P version will result in blue light blinking with no video output.

- RTD2175 vs RTD2175P – Compatibility Difference
From recent customer feedback and market verification:
- RTD2175P is generally considered a platform-specific version, commonly used in PS5 / PS5 Slim repair. It is generally believed to include platform-specific firmware and configuration, enabling proper initialization and communication with the console system
- RTD2175 (standard version) is more widely available and designed for general video/interface processing applications, but not guaranteed to work in PS5 applications
In some cases, using the standard RTD2175 may result in:
- No response after installation
- Initialization failure
- Unstable performance
- About Pulled Chips (Important Notice)
Some customers have reported that pulled RTD2175P chips (removed from used boards):
- Are very sensitive to heat during rework
- May fail easily during installation
For this reason, we generally do not recommend pulled chips for critical repairs, unless proper rework conditions are ensured.

- RTD2175N is a less common version
- Functions as a DisplayPort (DP) to HDMI conversion chip
- Not interchangeable with RTD2175 or RTD2175P in many cases

- For PS5 repair, RTD2175P is recommended when available
- If using RTD2175 (standard), please note it is not guaranteed for PS5
