The RTD2175P is a Realtek HDMI encoder and retimer chip that has become well known in the PS5 repair community. It is used on Sony PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Slim mainboards as part of the HDMI output circuit, handling high-speed signal processing required for HDMI 2.1 video output.

In practical repair work, this chip is most commonly found on boards such as the EDM-044 series, where it plays a critical role in restoring video output when the original HDMI IC fails.

What makes the RTD2175P important is not just its hardware function, but its firmware configuration. The “P” suffix is widely understood to indicate a PlayStation-specific version. In other words, this is not a generic HDMI retimer—it is a variant tuned for PS5 system initialization and communication behavior.

Because of this, compatibility matters a lot in real repair scenarios. The RTD2175P is confirmed to work with both the standard PS5 models and the PS5 Slim.
